12 of 2012

These are 12 of my favorite LOs from the last year.
Thanks for popping by to peek
&
Have a safe, warm and Happy New Year!!

Another do-over LO.
The colors, blocking all fit the photo SO MUCH better.

Love this toothless grin and colour combo  :)

Love all the old bits of odds & ends that got used up here.

Sincerely & truly - I am at my happiest snuggling with these two.
Love how I embraced a bit of my 'messy inner scrapper'.

Lots of layers and embellishment. And pink!!
And a picture of me that isn't totally hideous (for a change).

Bright & happy colors and sweet pics of my baby at 4.
No further words needed. :)

Misting AND flowers??
I loved how this LO of our long ago honeymoon photo turned out.

I loved the way this hot air balloon embellie worked  with my title about how much I looked forward to Friday lunch dates with my Little Man at school when I did hot lunch last year. I never got a pic of either of us, so I took a pic of the spot where we both used to perch as we ate.

A much needed do-over LO about my life as a SAHM. ALL of the journalling is now contained in a pocket behind the photo (and not messing up my LO like before).

Pictures taken by Little Man with his Nintendo DS.

I explored the sunburst paper piecing technique on this one and LOVED it!

This is my pretty baby sis who turned 18 last year.
I stole this photo form her FB account :)

'Tis the Season..

..to be busy.

First, please let me apologise for my long absence. I never anticipated becoming a hat maker over the last few months but that is what happened. EEK. AND  I even made a few dollars to boot :)
That left very little time or desire for scrapbooking, however, and then when it came time to prepare my November assignments, I was BLOCKED.
Asthe old addage goes, if you don't use it, you really do LOSE it. I plan on making some scrapping time this holiday, to get myself back n the swing of it.

In the meantime, I have a few projects to share with teh November Hip 2-b Square kit + Add-ons.
I love that there were fun little bits of unexpected color in this kit, it was loads of fun to play with.

Out of neccesity, I made these tags and grabbed the scraps I had hanging around from this kit.
It was about a 5 minute process, including the cutting!

Thanks for stopping by!
Have a great Christmas Eve - EVE!!

Boo!

I have another LO to share from the October Hip Kit.
This one is about trick or treating on H-ween night. We were lucky this year and had another Little Man & his Momma brave the rainy night and keep us company.
The boys got fairly wet but didn't let the rain dampen their spirits at all.

Trunk or Treat

I have a confession: I am not a fan of Halloween. I don't hate it.
It's alright but I am pretty indifferent about it most of the time.
Other than the candy, there's not much else about the holiday that excites me.
Christmas, on the other hand, I LOVE.
I have found that most people usually prefer one over the other - it's a rare breed that likes both equally. That being said, I don't much enjoy scrapping about it Hallowe'en either. I find the orange/green/purple colour scheme to be ho-hum.

BUT imagine my delight when I spied aqua, orange, grey and brown in this kit!!
Aqua is just one of those colors that seems to look great with any other color and grey is my new go-to neutral. I really loved the little nostalgic bits from the OA Witchhazel line in this kit as well.
SO, if I HAVE to scrap H-ween pages, I love having a pretty kit to do it with :)
And a cute little boy in a Spidey costume helps as well.
These pics are from the Trunk or Treat festivities that were held at my son's school. The 2 boys had a ball checking out their friends' costumes and running from car to car for candy.

**please pardon the blurred out face of my little guy's buddy, I don't have permission to post his photo.

I am in love with the tone on tone trend lately. It is a great way to add visual interest to your page without making it look too cluttered or bulky. I find myself coming back to this technique time and again.

I have a few more projects to share in the coming days.
Thanks for stopping by & Happy Wednesday!

First Day (of school)

Wow. I am lucky to hiy 5 blog posts this month. EEK!
This LO is the last of my September assignments for Hip 2-B Square and I think might be my favorite. We had a LOT of rain on the first day of school this year and I was reduced to having only indoor shots. My Little Man and I have come to an agreement when taking pics. So as not to get only scary, crazy, wild facial expressions and 'cheese-smiles' from him, I tell him he has to give me anice 'Mommy-smile' first and then after I get my 'my-kid-is-a-sweetie-and-totally-adorable' shot, I take as many crazy pics as he wants (usually on sports mode because he jumps and moves around so much, it's hard not to get blurry pics). This time, I am glad that I did, because his funny-face expression fit the mood of my LO perfectly. The other 2 pics are courtesy of Hubby's camera phn. It was far too rainy to cart my Canon out that day, I am really glad I have a back up for rainy days like these.

I made the rain drops with my Fiskars punch & borrowed the wooden button from my stash- the rest is from the Septmber Hip kit + Add-ons.

This pic is from Friday night Trunk or Treating that we had at Little Man's school last week.
LOVE how well the Spidey costume worked out and the weather was gorgeous!

Sunday was a leaf raking day (not that you can from my yard right now ;) )
and Little Man was more than happy to oblige me with some leaf pile jumping shots.
This one is my favorite, I was able to get down pretty low on this one and love the angle.

8 Lost Teeth

What a bad blogger I have been!
You know sometimes you need to take a step back and do something else some days? I rarely get that way with scrapbooking but the past few weeks, I have been playing with yarn ad have managed to neglect my blog. I have been playing on Pinterest lately, however, and have been newly inspired. I have a few LOs planned for the near future & I plan to get back to scrapping ASAP (hopefully this weekend!)

In the meantime, I have a LO that I did with the September Hip kit about Little Man's newest smile.
He has been very diligent about keeping track of the number of teeth he has lost (numbers are really his thing), so I cut the wooden veneer numbers at about the halfway point and highlighted the 8. I LOVED the small scale patterns & bright colors in this kit.

I also added the tag that Kimberley writes my name on and places with my kit again this month. I love using the packaging and other odds and ends that I might otherwise do away with on my LOs.

I also assembled a few easily assembled generic cards to have on hand.
I LOVE when cards are so easy to put together but they just do not come easily to me for some reason. I added a bit of cotton thread too (it's a steal at the big box stores for a few dollars for a large spool). It just gives my cards a bit of texture and I like simple little bows on my cards.

Thanks for stopping by!
Have a wonderful Friday!

Lego

How is your weekend going?
We have had a bit of a tummy bug this weekend, so I spent all day yesterday washing Little Man's bedding, clothing, taking his temp and trying to make sure he got enough fluids & meds.
I also watched enough Scooby Doo with him to last me a lifetime ;)
Today, he is mobile & eating even though he had a rough go first thing this AM. I think he is on the mend. Fingers crossed. ;)

However, I couldn't get to my computer yesterday to get a post up & spent all day surfing Pinterest on my IPad & making Little Man a hat to go with his scarf (see hat pic below). I LOVE surfing the internet to learn new things :)

This is one of my September LOs from my Hip 2-B Square kit. It had a fallish theme but there were so many bright, primary colors in the papers that I finally scrapped this Lego pic I have been holding onto. My LM says so many funny things lately and I remember him telling me that "Lego is my life" when I took the photo. I knew I would use that on my LO (if and when the time came).

This 2-pager is about our very quick family getaway to Halifax this Summer. We crammed in ALOT of little adventures in our 2-day trip including Citadel Hill, the Titanic display at the Aquatic Museum and site seeing on the boardwalk. since I had so many things to add to the LO, I printed my pics smalled and cropped them where neccesary. I included hidden sournalling on the left side by sewing a pocket under my photo mat. I just loved the wood veneer borders & barnboard paper designs that were included in this September kit.

And my little guy in the finished hat. My crocheting is at an intermediate level but this really is a fairly easy project (once you search the internet for instruction).
I had alot of fun with it and will probably try my hand at it again.

Thanks for checking in!
